quite the afternoon.
On Friday, I had the privilege to be in the presence of his holiness the 14th Dalai Llama. His message of compassion and peace really spoke to me. I felt as if I could relate to most of the things he was saying and it was truly an afternoon of enlightenment. i left feeling refreshed and renewed and had a slightly more optimistic outlook, seeing finally that there are people who truly want to create a difference, and it is the obligation of the youth, first and foremost.

not so typical summer days
summer blockbusters are usually things that I watch when they come on DVD but this year has been different. since May I've seen quite a few films. some pretty bad, others amazing. Let's start from the beginning.
Iron Man 2...pretty good. nothing special.
Next was Prince of Persia which was an admirable attempt for Disney. They tried and didn't completely fail this time.
Eclipse...exactly what I expected. which isn't much. being the best of all three isn't really much of an accomplishment but I admit that for some strange reason I will see the next two. Maybe it's because I know what to expect that I keep coming back.
The A-Team was pure fun and I enjoyed every minute of it.
The Karate Kid made me smile from ear to ear. Jayden Smith is irresistibly cute.
Toy Story 3. The gang is back at it again. this movie was an instant classic in my eyes. and it's the kind of movie I'd watch again in a heartbeat.
After that I saw Grown Ups, which was a bunch of hilarious slightly family fun.
Salt kept me guessing until the end and if this is Angelina's last action/thriller type film she definitely went out with a bang.
Many people were disappointed by The Last Airbender but I quite enjoyed it and the moral of being the bigger person, being above your enemies.
Inception was epic. No it was more than that, it was mind blowing. It was amazingly written, acted and directed and I have nothing but praise for this film.
The most recent film I've seen is Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. A graphic novel come to life, literally. I felt as if I was in a video game. It was a unique way of making a film, that had a powerful effect.
There is still some of August left, and still movies to see. I better enjoy it while I can, before I know it September will have rolled around.

sleep is for slackers.

the night.
it enthralls me. the only time when i feel whole. when i feel at one with myself.
sleep is for slackers.
we only get 24 hours in a day and we have to use them wisely.
Time.
Precious as the night itself.
and then morning comes and the banal recommences.
If only i could perpetually feel the way I do at 12 am.

Butterflies...

Haven't blogged in three days. Not good. I'm currently writing a one act play and once I'm done I may post a sample of it on here. Summer's in the air and I love it but I cannot wait for fall and all the fashion trends and back to school. I feel that this school year will be different. In a good way. Life is good.

TopShop

Topshop, the ultra trendy but still authentic and unique British chain store has come to Canada. It's quite sad that I just found this out today, seeing as it's been in Toronto since late May. The merchandise is being sold at Jonathan + Olivia, a fashion haven in the Queen West neighbourhood. It's somewhat of a test to see if the brand can survive in this city, and if it does say hello to a full-fledged TOPSHOP store.
